I've got a PC running Xenix System V 386 2.3.3, with SCO's TCP/IP version 1.0. Everything was running fine until about a week ago. Since then every time I bring up TCP/IP (tcp start) while connected to the network the system will hang within a few minutes. Disconnected from the network it will run without hanging up. Has anyone run into this, or know how I might be able to fix it? Thanks, Phil Rieke rieke@msuces.canr.msu.edu 18215per@ibm.cl.msu.edu

Seems that you have met the SCO copy protection :=) You can't run two or more machines with the same serial number and activation key of the tcp package within the network. The program cpd keeps track of this and dies if it gets a packet on port 60000/udp which has the same serial number as this cpd. Killing cpd on a machine will lock up the machine completely since every tcp program checks for a running cpd. The solution to this should be obvious... mam -- Michael A.
