AMORC claims a tradition dating back for thousands of years, as do most groups that are heavily into the financial side of salvation. The Rosicrucians are a few centuries old, and somewhat secretive. AMORC is younger than this century; if you're really interested in Rosicrucianism, I would advise getting a copy of Regardie's THE GOLDEN DAWN (maybe in a university library) and looking through it; also various originals that should be available in a library, such as The Alchymical Marriage of Christian Rosencreutz (the original Rosicrucian document). I have some skepticism about AMORC, but I've got a friend who's a Wiccan High Priest that swears by them. Tim Maroney unc!tim

References: wivax.359 The Rosicrucians are a quasi-mystical group headquartered in San Jose. They have been around for a long time: Ben Franklin and Thomas Jefferson are said to have been members. They were for a long time associated with the Masons. Supposedly, the Great Seal of the United States (the eye in the pyramid) is somehow Masonic/Rosicrucian in origin. Someone posted an opinion that the Rosicrucians were obviously bogus because they push mental phenomema. Mental phenomena are easy to demonstrate, to wit: Place your phone in the middle of your desk. Think about your phone for a while. Eventually, it will ring. See how easy it is? While it is ringing, think about making it stop, and soon it will. :-) John Woods ...mitccc!jfw

Some friends and I used to like to frequent a place that was supposed to be the "sacred burial ground of the Rosicrucians" in rural Pennsylvania near Bethlehem. My memories of it have dimmed considerably, but I recall a very strange lotus garden. Does anyone know of this?
