[comp.unix.xenix.sco] SCO UNIX filename length

nagar@netcom.COM (Nagar) (06/22/91)

Is there a 14 character filename length limit on SCO UNIX and number of
max. files on filesystem is 2**16 -1?

What is the size of superblock on SCO Unix?

I got some puzzling answers from a hiring manager whose department supports
SCO UNIX!

Currently, yes.

} and number of max. files on filesystem is 2**16 -1?

There is a maximum number (65500) of inodes, which include files,
directories, and device nodes.

If a number is not specified when creating the filesystem, the mkfs
program will default to approximately the number of logical blocks
divided by 4.

} What is the size of superblock on SCO Unix?

The super-block occupies block one (a 512-byte physical disk block)
of the device.
