Close correlation of independent NASA (beacon) and NORAD (radar) tracking data confirms that Object 14780 is LANDSAT. 2. The inclination of object 14782 is more than a degree different from the similar inclinations of 14780 and 14781. This change resulted from the two burns performed on the upper stage after separation of the two spacecraft. Therefore 14782 must be the upper stage. 3. No objects, other than the three catalogued, have been observed. Nothing in the way of launcher parts which might have been ejected were large enough to be detected. 4. By a process of elimination, object 14781 must be UOB. The latest data available is set # 13 which corresponds to that provided by PKARN in his telemail posted to the AMSAT bulletin board at 2016Z on 13 March (Epoch 84073.70137990). For lack of any other ideas on what to do next, I have requested that NORAD recognize our spacecraft emergency situation, and give priority to obtaining updated elements as often as possible. Good luck! 73, John, W6SP DT16MAR4 Posted: Fri Mar 16, 1984 11:53 AM PST Msg: BGIE-1741-7697 From: JBROWNING To: PKARN CC: MSWEETING, HPRICE, VRIP, AMSAT Subj: UOB ELEMENT STATUS ADDENDUM UOB priorty has been established. Our Sunnyvale contact will be visiting NORAD Monday and Tuesday. While there he will personally examine radar cross section information as well as the tracking data to verify the validity of UOB elements. 73, John, W6SP DT17MAR4
