Well I've perused the list of newsgroups and this one seems to match the best to my query: I've got less than 24 hours to get some information together on possible candidate technology (ie. "solutions") in the way of LARGE file servers. Any experiences out there? Do any of the vendors in this area include support for Apple's AFP and the like? A flexible NFS is a must but we're gonna have to go much further than that. Anyone willing to share their experiences with AUSPEX, EPOCH, or similar hardware/software is most welcome to reply :-) ... Vendors are also welcome to reply, directly to me of course. Oh, I need some numbers in the way of $$$ as well if possible. Thanks. -- Ian Reddy, UNIX Systems Consultant Internet: Ian_Reddy@ucs.sfu.ca Computing Services, AD1021 BITNET: USERIGR1@SFU Simon Fraser University Telephone: (604) 291-3936 Burnaby, B.C. Canada V5A 1S6 Fax: (604) 291-4242 For really large file servers, you might want to talke to Distributed Computing Solutions (DISCOS), P.O. Box 85608, San Diego, CA 92186-9784 (619) 455-3755. Their UniTree product can handle very large amounts of data and has reasonable interfaces. Buddy Bland Oak Ridge National Lab aib@ornl.gov This is my own opinion. Not that of my employer.
