Currently I'm dealing with NeXT, DEC VAX 11/750 and planning for some IBM RISC/6000 machines for shared use. Each of these machines slows down sometimes. I'd like to know why. Then of course, I'll want to know how to fix it. But for now, I seek only to locate/acquire some sensible approach to identifying the bottlenecks in a shared use machine. If there were a list of things to check or a handbook on tuning modern Unix systems I'd like to hear about them. I have "sysstat" on the Mt. Xinu 4.3 on the VAX but nothing on the NeXT or the RISC/6000. What do you do? Dick
