I am currently setting up a DOS/UNIX network and would like some input on method of doing remote printing. (not in UR) Environment: NCR TOWER 486 EISA PC CLONE running V3.2 running Interactive unix unix 2.2 \ / \ / \ / \ / 10BASE-T -------- visual Xterminal 14/ES Concentrator -------- visual Xterminal 14/ES / \ / \ / \ / ... \ MSDOS MSDOS MSDOS MSDOS/WINDOW 3 386PCs 386PCs 386PCs 386PCs HP III with Postscript cartridge attached to it. Everything is connected with 10Base-T Ethernet, with Racal Interlan card on the PCs side and NCR's Ethernet card. Protocol is TCP/IP and using Wollong TCP solution on the DOS side. Before I finished the network installation and go through all the manuals, I would like some input of how people would do (or is doing) remote printing in this kind of environment. The minimum requirement will be any MSDOS machine can print on the laser printer. The only time I did some trivial remote printing is to write a script and print via uux from UNIX to UNIX . If you know a solution but require minor modification in software or OS (such as use a UNIX machine as a print server which I think make more sense) please feel free to comment.
