Howdy. Our site is in need of a rebuild, and we would like to rebuild our Unix boxes with a system that is somewhat of a standard. (I.e. 4.3bsd based, or MtXinu, etc..). Our needs are simple; 4.3bsd compat, NFS, and Source Code. As a site we have a site licence for Source from AT&T (I beleive, the actual document would be in our legal dept, but its safe to assume we have the basic licence). We are willing to pay extra for source code, but not an outragous amount either. We would like support from the vendor, with the capability to do some amount of support ourselfs. As well as being able to modify some parts of the O/S (Which we will support in house). There are many Unix Packages on the market, and policies of each vendor are somewhat different. So what I'm hopeful people can help me with what your experience is, what you are running if its close to the above, and are you "happy". We would like to get some "tapes" (I.e. binary root/usr, source tapes), and install this on a prototype system some time this spring if all goes well, any help you could provide in helping us connect with a good vendor would be appreciated. Targets are VaxStation II's (BA123 boxes/BA23's), and Vaxstation 3100 (perhaps) Please reply directly to me, if there is intrest, I will post a summary. Thanks, - Shawn Internet: shawn@eddie.mit.edu Uucpnet: mit-eddie!shawn
