Well, I got several responses to my previous question, and most respondees indicated that I did not give enough info to help me. I DID get a copy of 4.1.1+ from the net via archie this morning, and have encountered a DIFFERENT set of hassles: Hardware: VAX 11/785 System: Ultrix 3.1 Problem: During the make, during the cc step, the cc command displays on the screen, followed by the message: ld: -lresolv : cannot open Now, I understand that somewhere the compiler is passed resolv as the name of a library; that library does not exist either on my system or as part of the tn3270 package. Perchance, is this an indicator that a flag is getting set wrong by the makefile? Is it asking the compiler to resolve references so that the define of __putchar won't occur twice? I am really lost, as I do not know C well enough to program my out of a paper bag in it... ******************************************************************************* * * Netmail addresses: * * Edward C.
