You can use the public domain driver for the st-01 to control scsi drives, but only if the drives are not bootable. Thus, you must boot off a MFM drive or a scsi drive with one of the supported controllers and then access the other scsi drives via the st-01. But if you are going to boot off a scsi drive, then you might as well use the same scsi card to support the other drives. Hmm, i am only aware of esix supporting the adaptec and future domain controllers. Most likely the adaptec would be a faster controller because it uses bus master dma, but be warned -- not all motherboards support this (bus master dma) feature! There is a test on the controller board that will report whether your motherboard supports this or not. derek -- temporarily: derek@cimcor.MN.ORG as soon as i get my pc back: det@hawkmoon.MN.ORG

The ST01 isn't supported by Esix. Talking with Esix technical support, I gather SCSI controllers vary quite a bit. I think this is a case where you need to go by the list of supported controllers. /gary grebus@nobozo.enet.dec.com
