I can't seem to find this program, is it public domain? And if so, where can I get a copy of it? 2) Someone posted a program a while back that would put a screen into 43 line mode, when I run it, my screen just go blank. The meat of the program is a call to ioctl with SW_ENHC80x43 as the command. I figure this is a driver problem, so I guess what I am really asking is, has anybody ever gotten this call to work the an ATI wonder card? 2a) Is there a way to write a 'C' program that will write directly to the video registers? And if so, how? I have gcc and gas running on my machine if that helps. 3) In the Interactive manual, there is mention of a program call layer, but I can't find it on my machine anywhere. Is it a separate product? Should it come with the base system? 4) Should I be able to mount my BOOT floppy? When I try to through the sysadm menu system, it tells me that the floppy has not be properly setup. 5) Someone recently posted a solution to the problem of not knowing the root password. The solution being to boot from the BOOT floppy and when asked to press return to install the software you abort out of it and presto, you are logged in as root and you can mount you hard disk to fix you passed file. Well, I was just trying it out and decided I did not want to try and mount my hard disk this way but then could not find a way to shut the system down. I tried 'init 0' but after a little wait it just came back and nothing happen. Is there suppose to be a way to shut it down with the floppy, or should I have gone ahead and try to mount my hard drive and tried the '/etc/shutdown'. 5a) What exact options should I pass to mount to mount my hard drive? 6) There seems to be a problem with the terminfo entry for my Televideo 950 that the termcap entry at work doesn't have. So, I copied down the termcap entry for tvi950, but I could not find an automated way to convert it to terminfo. I am going to have to convert it to terminfo by hand? I thought there was a program to do this for me.
