[comp.unix.sysv386] lpr/lpd for System V/386

wnp@iiasa.AT (wolf paul) (09/14/90)

Thanks to Connor P. Cahill for posting the lpr/lpd diffs;
however, when I applied them to the 4.3 tahoe sources (worked
like a charm) and tried to compile them, there were a bunch
of problems with non-existent include files (i.e. those in
the /usr/include/machine subdirectory), as well as several
other error messages from the compiler.

In a word: the stuff does not compile.

Of course, I do not know how close the tahoe distribution is
to the stuff in uunet:bsd-sources, and since we don't have
ftp access here, I cannot grab them.

Jonathan Broome has sent me mail offering to send me the complete
package, but it seems I cannot get mail back to him; if you see this,
Jonathan, please do send me your package by e-mail.

Otherwise, it might be helpful if Connor could post the lpr/lpd
sources that his diffs apply to, for those of us who do not have
ftp access.

Thanks!

Wolf Paul

I grabbed the lpd sources from uunet, applied the patches
posted, typed make install, and I now have my UNIX system
acting as a print server for my PC's running FTP software's
lpr program. This is with ISC 2.2.

I tried them against the unmodified sources directly from uunet with
similar results.
