[comp.unix.sysv386] TeX under ISC 386/ix

Has anyone successfully install TeX under ISC 386/ix? I have what
appears to be a working copy of TeX, but am running into problems with
METAFONT. When I try to use dvips to print a TeX document, it
attempts to create any fonts that it can't find. When it tries to run
mf as (for example):
MakeTeXPK cmcsc10 360 300 magstep\(1.0\) magstep\(1.0\)
and this runs:
mf "\mode:=magstep(1.0); mag:=magstep(1.0); batchmode; input \
    /usr/local/lib/tex/inputs/cmcsc10"

As I understand METAFONT, this should create cmcsc10.360gf, but
instead creates cmcsc10.3122gf. Does anyone have any ideas about what
is going on?

Yes, TeX 3.0 and MetaFont 2.0.

That "mode" is not right. Look in MakeXTeXPK an make sure that its
mode matches the mode in plain.base.
