[comp.unix.sysv386] How can I spawn shells in all my virtual terminals

I managed to learn to use the vt?? devices so I hit Alt-F1, Alt-F2,
etc. for different virtual terminals.  Is there a way to set up
/etc/inittab so that once I log into the console, a shell is spawned on
the vt's?  Or should I do this somewhere else, such as in
$HOME/.profile?
