What kind of performance do you expect to get out of this stack?
>From personal experience I can tell you that a Hustler G6 or G7
outperforms the single RINGO hands down. I can't quantify the
difference, but I can tell you that side by side tests have
sent a number of people away shaking their heads. Of course, these
are both end-fed units and I suggest you try center-fed if you
really want to see a difference. I regularly use a center-fed
which is only seven feet high because the end-fed units are ten
to seventeen feet long. My apartment manager objects to seventeen
foot 'decorations'. I find the performance almost identical. If
I put the center-fed up as high as the Hustler, the center-fed
is noticeably better and occupies less space. Austin has a
center-fed which is composed of two arms which can be swung
up, down, and sideways. This has some potential for switching
between vertical and horizontal polarization (maybe even both
simultaneously). I ordered one this week.

Someone asked about handhelds. I can't find time to read and
respond as often as I would like so here are my belated comments.
I own a Yaesu 208R. I really like it. It is tough as nails. I
was talking to someone yesterday who drove off down the freeway
with his 208 on top of his car. 208's don't come with mag mounts
so it slid off at about 50mph. It bounced a great distance. The
case is badly torn up. Even the battery case was ground down by
all the sliding. Well, the 208 "took a licking, and kept on
ticking". When I talked to him he was pushing buttons with an
eraser but he still sounded great. The shops tell me it is the
most reliable unit they (don't) see. I suggest the NC-8 Power
Supply and Charger. For two years I operated base with this rig
and I'm still using the same battery. I just did buy a 708R to
see what the 450 band is like. Anybody have any comments about
450?
