[comp.unix.sysv386] SCO UNIX 3.2.0 vs 3.2.2 autobaud

sysop@mixcom.UUCP (System Operator) (11/14/90)

The system: SCO UNIX 3.2.0 & 3.2.2
			Digi Board serial controller
			modems default to 2400 baud

Under 3.2.0, when a caller used 1200 baud a carriage return
would cause the system to sync to the baud rate. A BREAK
would also cause the system to change baud rate.

Under 3.2.2, a BREAK seems to be required to change baud rate.
The SCO tech support person I spoke with told me that 3.2.0
must have been broken, and 3.2.2 works right: the system should
not sync to the baud rate of a call when a carriage return is sent,
a BREAK is required to do that.

What is your experience? Why shouldn't the system automatically
sync to the baud rate using the rate reported by the modem?
Should I trash SCO's getty for a different one?
