[comp.unix.sysv386] help with ISC UNIX X11 Runtime: twm doesn't work!

pizzi@esacs.UUCP (Riccardo Pizzi) (12/07/90)

I recently purchased the new Interactive UNIX, including the X11 Runtime.
I encountered a serious problem with the X part of the OS: the twm
window manager, that is part of the ISC distribution, does not work.
When I run twm (either from .xinitrc or manually) the computer produces
a short beeping sound and the process terminate.
I am not able to use X at all without a working window manager... :-(
I do not have the X11 Development package, so I can't compile another wm
either... I cannot move or resize windows, I cannot do anything!!
OS is version 3.2 release 2.2, X Runtime 1.2 (I am not really sure about
the latter). The graphic card is the Tseng Lab ET4000 (1024x768x256).
If someone has a solution for this (really frustrating) problem, please let me
know!! Please send e-mail only, because I very seldom read this newsgroup.

Many thanks in advance to whoever will help...

Rick
