[net.ham-radio] Info request on computer-controllable transceivers

jhs%Mitre-Bedford@sri-unix.UUCP (07/06/84)

Does anybody out there in network-landt have info on automated control of
VHF (2m) or HF radios ? A friend here at MITRE is interested in ham-band
experiments with "adaptive HF" which might even include hopping into VHF or
UHF if there's a band opening.

Questions:

(a) Is anybody else interested in experimenting with this ?
If so let me know and I will put you in touch with the above-mentioned
friend. Preferably ship me your phone number over the net and I'll
	have him call you directly.

(b) Does anybody have experience with computer control of 2m HTs or larger
2m radios, or HF radios? Including band-changing, retuning, etc.?
If so, what ham-band radios would be most adaptible to this sort
of thing? What would be the "best buy" or "check-rated" unit to
get? Or should one build up something special?

All inputs will be much appreciated.
