I realize that 386/ix and DOS partitions on the same SCSI drive is no big deal. However, I have never seen a discussion as to whether a MacOS partition (I have an SE/30) could also reside on this same drive? Is is a simple problem of not having the software (i.e. a format program that wouldn't hose up the 386/ix and DOS partitions) on the Mac side to accomplish the task? I plan on getting a 380 meg SCSI drive and placing it in an external box and hooking it up to my 386 using an Adaptech 1542 card. It would be ideal if I could simply swap a cable (do 25DB {Mac SCSI} to 50 pin Centronic conversion cables exist?) and access a MacOS partition on the drive when I'm using my SE/30. Just about everybody I've asked so far is well versed on either PC SCSI equipment or Mac SCSI equipment but no one could bridge the gap and inform me of the possibility of what I've just mentioned. I'm a complete neophyte because this is going to be my first SCSI drive (I'm using MFMs now) but hopefully some kind sole (i.e. Roy Neese, Doug Pintar ;-)) could help to clarify things for me. Thanks so much. P.S. Someone did mention to me that a partition could be setup to be a Novell partition (with Columbia Data software) and the SE/30 could in some way be linked thru the 386 to access the drive and use the Novell partition would be usable by the Mac. This is too expensive for me, though.
