[comp.unix.sysv386] VGA standards for high resolution graphics cards and monitors

annala@neuro.usc.edu (A J Annala) (12/31/90)

I would appreciate recommendation for purchase of a high quality high
resolution VGA card which supports (640 x 480, 800 x 600, 1024 x 768)
256 color display resolution. I would prefer using a card supporting
whatever standards seem to be evolving for high resolution VGA -- and
if possible capable of supporting operating in linear address (rather
than paged) address space under SCO UNIX SYSV/386 3.2v2. Because my
project involves image processing it is crucial that the recommended
card support eight bits each of R, G and B so I can display the full
range 256 level enhanced greyscale and 256 color mapped images.

In addition, I would be interested in knowing which VGA cards will be
supported by SCO UNIX SYSV/386 ODT, QEMM/386 X Window Server, Roell's
X Window Server in high resolution 256 color modes.

Thanks, AJ Annala
