We had a voice id on our repeater about 10 years ago (along with the cw id) and I agree with what someone else said on the net, it does not work too well. The level is too high and it wipes out a user. One good thing can be said for it however, and that is that it can be faster than a 20wpm cw id. The thing is to make it go off between transmissions. We found that a high frequency tone is best for a cw id. Something between 2000 and 2500 Hz. It need not be as loud as a lower tone and it is better heard on the small speakers in hand-held units.
