John, Martin:

I beg to differ with John's suggestion that Martin (and others) go
to Den Connors (KD2S) for info on AX.25 and Packet Radio.

While Den certainly is knowledgable on the subject, he is also one of
the world's busiest people. The odds of his having time to follow
through on such requests are pretty low. (I had to take his NCS slot
for the local packet radio (voice) net last week [Thursdays, 8PM
on 147.12 {plug, plug}] and he hasn't read messages for him on
the local packet bullboards for over a month.)

I would advise contacting Paul Rinaldo, W4RI, at ARRL HQ (formerly
president of AMRAD). Proselytizing for packet radio is a big part
of his job. ARRL has the conference proceedings of the three main
meetings in the US on packet radio, and those books contain all the
specifications.
