[comp.unix.sysv386] Writing DC600A tapes in Archive Viper 2150S

bill@unixland.uucp (Bill Heiser) (02/08/91)

This is an old question, but I need to get it straight in my mind.

Is the Archive Viper 2150S supposed to be able to WRITE (as well as READ)
DC600A tapes? When I try to write to one, it seems to write ok
(tar cvfo /dev/rmt/stape4 under Esix rev d), but reading it back (tar tvf),
it gives me a directory checksum error. I was under the impression that
this drive should be able to write in 120mb format on this series of tape.
Should this work under Esix?

Thanks in advance,
Bill

it works fine (reading and writing 120 megs tapes using DC-600A cartridges)
under Interactive...
