[comp.unix.sysv386] VP/ix-DOS compatibility problem?

dnb@rubys.UUCP (Dave Buonomo) (03/05/91)

We're having some difficulty with a DOS application and I would like to
solicit some help here. The application is the latest version of PeachTree
Accounting. The difficulty lies in the ability to get printed output out of
the application (or VP/ix) to the UNIX spooler.

We're running ISC UNIX Sys V 3.2.2 in pretty much a vanilla configuration.
The VP/ix AUTOFLUSH mechanism is enabled for data to be flushed to the
spooler in 10 seconds. Using the Ctrl-Alt-M flush option or exiting the
application has no effect. There is simply nothing hitting the spooler.
One other VERY interesting note; if I redirect the printed output to the
screen (via the PeachTree "Change Device" option) nothing gets sent to the
display either. The only way we can print reports is to redirect to a disk
file (again, via the PeachTree "Change Device" option) and use the DOS print
command after exiting the application.

Other DOS applications are having no problem getting data out to the spooler
so I do not suspect my configuration. Perhaps PeachTree is using some non-
standard procedured to handle devices?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Dave
