[comp.unix.sysv386] SLIP for Unix System V/386 R4.0

sudji@indo.intel.com (Sudji Husodo) (03/07/91)

SLIP for Unix System V/386 Release 4.0 can now be picked up from
iabi.intel.com in pub/slip. The SLIP driver and its utilities is
available in two forms, source and pkgadd binaries.

slip.tar.Z - contains the sources of SLIP. To build and install slip
driver and its utilities from the sources do the following:
	transfer slip.tar.Z
    type "uncompress slip.tar.Z"
    type "tar xvf slip.tar"
    type "cd src"
    type "make"

slip.pkg.tar.Z - contains the binaries of SLIP in the pkgadd format.
To install SLIP and its utilities do the following:
    type "cd /usr/spool/pkg"
	transfer slip.pkg.tar.Z
    type "uncompress slip.pkg.tar.Z"
    type "tar xvf slip.pkg.tar"
    type "pkgadd"

The shell archived sources is also posted in comp.sources.unix:

Good luck!

I have been in contact with Sudji. I was having trouble ftp'ing
to the host. It seems there is a problem or restriction at some
router somewhere on the net, since he claims the machine is fine,
and he was able to send the files to me. Anyways, in case anyone
else is having trouble getting this package, I thought I would
make it available here as well. Ftp to piggy.ucsb.edu and look
in /pub/slip. Everything should be the same as on iabi.intel.com.

And of course, the main router here decided to crap out last night.
Everything is back in business now, and ftp to piggy.ucsb.edu should
work fine for everyone.

For those who tried to ftp SLIP source or pkgadd binary from iabi.intel.com
( 128.215.19.51 ) and failed, we have resolved its routing problem. Try again
and let me know if you still have problems.
