Well, the word is out on the Esix upgrade from Rev D to SysVr4. 2-user version upgrade: $399 unlimited user version: $699 development kit $275 --- $ 974 The new version includes printed documentation and on-line man pages. ... definitely not cheap ... Let's hope they come out with the uarea bug fix soon, or lots of people won't be much inclined to invest another $1K on them ... -- home: ...!{uunet,bloom-beacon,esegue}!world!unixland!bill bill@unixland.uucp The Think_Tank BBS & Public Access Unix 508-655-3848 (2400) 508-651-8723 (9600-HST) 508-651-8733 (9600-PEP-V32) other: heiser@world.std.com

Make that $399 for the 2 user base package, PLUS another $275 for the development kit. So to upgrade a 2 user development system is $674, which more than I paid for Rev D. And they still don't know if they will support the STB Em16+ (also known as the STB PowerGraph). They will be selling new (not upgrade) complete (base+dev) packages for $1295 (2 user) and $1895 (unlimited). Availability is supposed to be "in April".

To ESIX's credit, *GOD* only knows what AT&T is charging for System V.4 sources + licensing. Anyone want to fathom a guess of the costs outside of the normal ~$100k source license?? I have not seen a decently prices V.4 !!anywhere!!. I would be willing to invest a good amount of $$$ to see a GNU kernel right now!! gray

Yeah, that's about right(+/- $10.00); I had seen their anouncement of SVR4 in Unixworld and called them on (or about) the 13th. Well, the sales person I talked to (who gave me the prices I quoted in my original article) told me that the SysVr4 product would include mostly what the Rev D product has -- plus the addition of online man pages and printed documentation. But then .. we now know that the sales person gave me wrong info, so I guess we don't want to count on technical content either.
