[net.ham-radio] Ham call changes?

urp

I have wondered for twenty years now how Wayne Green has managed to remain
W2NSD/1 (I think thats it) for so long. No hostility is intended here, I
have been reading (and paying for) his rather right wing technical/political
magazine for the same twenty years.

Hmm. Yes I think that is related to ham call sign changes.

I don't understand; FCC only changes a call if you request it these
days. In the old days they only changed your district if you moved
your primary station license. An up to date mailing address and a
secondary station in portable operation would keep your call.

I've only been at it about ten years, but mostly in New England, in
two license classes, in ten locations, with the same call always.
What's confusing? A call sign should say something about the
licensee? (de WA2YBA/1).
