qst de k9eui hr propagation forecast bulletin nr 33 from arrl headquarters newington ct august 13, 1984 to all radio amateurs bt the solar flux reached a peak of 93 on august 10 and then turned downward, to 86 on the 12th. it is expected to continue downward for several days. as in recent weeks, variations in the flux level are not expected to be a major propagation factor. we have had some good days already in august, and a seasonal pickup has been observable on 21 and 28 mhz. fluctuations in the earths magnetic field will influence propagation to a greater extent. magnetic k and a indices were rising at bulletin time, with high latitude circuits suffering accordingly. generally low signal levels will prevail early in the forecast week, but propagation will improve after august 15. fair to good signal levels and reduced fading will be observed most of the time august 16 through 24, but more trouble is likely august 28 through 31. no large changes in the solar flux are expected until early september. american sunspot numbers for august 2 through 8 were between 10 and 26 with a mean of 20.0 ar
