[comp.unix.sysv386] xterm & XK_Mode_switch

koe@kivax.UUCP (Diana Koehler) (05/15/91)

I have problems with the "Meta-key" (Character set switch) on a
Workstation ("ansi-Terminal") with SCO-Odt-1.0.

When I start xterm with an "ISO8859-font" on a Mips-machine(X-Terminal),
I can switch between "Umlaut" ae and "[" (which are on the same key)
using the Meta-Key(NoScroll-Key) bind to XK_Mode_switch.
So I can use full eight-bit character set within xterm.

On SCO-Machine this doesn't work. I don't have a special Meta-Key on
the Keyboard. I tried to use "ALT_L" but this doesn't work.
How can I get the Keys on the Third/Fourth-Level, to get the same
effect as above.
 (f.e there is a key containing:    normal-level -    8
                                    shift-level -     (
                                    third-level(!) -  [
)

If I don't work under XSight, I get the third-level with "ALT_L".

Any help would be appreciate.
Thanks

Diana
