I have followed much discussion on the network about the X386 package. I understand it supports many graphics adapter cards with many chip sets. However I have read an article on the merits of using graphics cards which have graphics co-processors such as the Texas Instruments TMS34010 Does anyone know if X386 supports any such adapter cards? I am in the process of deciding what configuration of home computer to buy. I want some form of Unix workstation environment for s/w development. I would be most interested in opinions on displays and graphics adapter boards. For example, is it better to spend a little more on the video adapter at the expense of the CPU? I had been considering a 486-25, with an ET4000 based SVGA board, but I wonder now whether to trim down to a 386-33 (or 40) and spend the money saved on more inteligent peripherals. Would get better all round performance this way? Please email, rather than, or as well as post replies as news takes a long time to get to my site.
