[comp.unix.sysv386] ESIX 5.3 rev D, TCP/IP problem

jh@efd.lth.se (Joergen Haegg) (05/23/91)

I have problem with my ESIX 5.3, rev D.
If I use telnet, ftp or rlogin from the 386 to a sun
it works for about 10-15 seconds. Then all TCP/IP hangs.

Must reboot to get it working again. It seems to be dependent
of the time after the last reboot, because it is only
possible to use it after a fresh reboot.

This seems to affect other I/O, because it happens that /bin/login
sometime hangs without doing a newline. And it is the same for all four
virtual terminals. Maybe locking STREAMS, I don't know.

However, all works fine in the *other* direction, from the sun to the 386.
Apparently it must be telnet, ftp, ... and not telnetd, ftpd who is
triggering the trouble.

Another strange thing is that remsh won't transfer more than 4096
bytes if I try to use remsh to copy big files from the 386.

I have a Western Digital 8013 ethernet card, IRQ 10, I/O 0x280, ROM 0xd8000
and RAM at 0xdc000. Had to patch /usr/include/wdcfg.h and
/etc/conf/sdevice.d/land to get IRQ 10 to work, but that part seems to work.
I need all IRQ below 8...

Is there anyone who have some ideas about this?
