From: Richard Shapiro <RSHAPIRO@BBNA.ARPA> I've just bought a (used) ICOM R-70 and would like to ask others who own one (or an R71) about the optional filters that places like EEB are offering. The reviews I've seen imply that the narrower of the PBT filters should be replaced. Two possible replacement filters are generally mentioned (I forget the model numbers offhand). Does anyone have opinions about the need for this replacement and the relative merits of the two filters? I should mention that I listen almost exclusively to AM broadcasts but that I often listen "ECSS" for the increased selectivity (I much prefer this to narrow AM -- I've never seriously considered the narrow-AM mod that EEB offers; this based on using both narrow AM and ECSS on my R-1000). Thanks for the information, Richard Shapiro -------
