What I have: AST 386/20 with 200MB 3.5" Conner IDE disk, VGA, Adaptec AHA-1542b as secondary controller, Specialix SI/8 intelligent serial card, WD 8003E Ethernet, and ISC Unix 2.2.1. Configuration: Ethernet and serial card are presently out of the system, but the drivers are still in the kernel. The Adaptec is set to factory defaults, with floppy disabled and BIOS ROM enabled. Kconfig for HPDD has AT as primary, Adaptec as secondary controller, Exabyte tape. Symptoms: Boots under DOS via floppy *very* slowly. Passes DMA diagnostic. Recognizes Exabyte as Target 4, LUN 0 when diagnostic is run. ISC won't boot when Adaptec card is in the system, but does if it is removed. What I'd like to know: What target number should the tape be set to, or doesn't it matter? Where can I find documentation on this? What else, if anything, do I need to do to get this combination working? -- Greg Benjamin gregb@laserlab.UUCP Laserlab, Inc. 10171 Pacific Mesa Boulevard, suite 305 San Diego, CA 92121
