[comp.unix.sysv386] esdi summary and yet another question

Greetings-
Earlier I posted a question about using esdi under unix. Well the
concensus was that esdi "in st506 emulation mode" would work fine under most
unixs. The WD1007, came highly recomended. Are any of ya'll using this
configuration with at&t sysvr4? If not, SHOULD it work?
My latest question is this, I have the need to add more serial ports.
Which smart serial port cards do you folks use under unix? I would prefer
one that can live with my old stupid at 2serial port card that will not
relinquish the standard irq and address settings of com1 and com2. I only
really need two more serial ports, however if smart cards come with a min.
of 4 (which is all I can seem to find) I can always live with more.
			-Thanks again

I've used the Adaptec ESDI controller with ESIX 3.2 for almost two years
with flawless operation. Strange, I've had trouble with the WD1007.
