Hello. Is anyone using ESIX System V.4? If so, I would really like to hear your comments about the product, especially problems, bugs, etc. Does ESIX X11R4 have a 256-color server that works with the ET4000 VGA chipset? The $1K price for a 2-user development system is pretty low, even though Dell is still better (ESIX Motif and Open Look are extra), but at least you don't need a 150MB tape drive (why are those so d*mn expensive?) Thanks in advance. -- +-------------------+----------------------+---------------------------------+ | JERRY J. OK, ESIX folks, can you answer this one: will a DOS emulator (a la DOS Merge or ISC VP/ix) *ever* be available for ESIX? This may be one of the sticking points here, because a number of people want to run DOS software at our site.{ -rich

I've used ESIX 3.2 D and now ESIX V4 with a copy of Interactive's VP/ix. ESIX has the hooks in their kernel for both VP/ix and DosMerge. I've even written my own IEM (Installable Emulation Module) that I link into VP/ix to allow DOS programs to access a MIDI card that's installed in my system. Not a problem. -- Richard A.
