	The Columbus (Ohio) Amateur Radio association will be having
	their second annual "Columbus Day Special Event". This 
	event is open to amateurs worldwide. Please see inclosed

                     COLUMBUS DAY SPECIAL EVENT
                       OFFICIAL RULES (1984)            

1) Eligibility:                                                      
                Open to all amateur radio operators worldwide,
                divided into two separate groups.
                1> Columbus, Ohio amateurs (including area suburbs)
                2> All other amateurs worldwide
2) Objective:                                                       
                The overall objective is to promote the explorer
                Christopher Columbus, the city of Columbus,Ohio
                and amateur radio operators worldwide.

                Columbus hams are to work Columbus hams and
                non-Columbus hams in a relaxed manner.            

                Non-Columbus hams are to work Columbus hams as
                required for a certificate.
3) Date/Time:                                                       
   Band/Freq    1> Saturday, October 06,1984
                   1400z to 2400z
                   15 Meters Phone @ 21.375Mhz +- 10Khz
                2> Sunday, October 07,1984
                   1400z to 2400z
                   40 Meters Phone @  7.240Mhz  +- 10Khz

4) Exchange:                                                        
                A valid exchange shall be Name, QTH and RST. 
                Columbus hams, should include info on certificate.
5) Scoring:                                                          
                1> One point for each contact (excluding W8TO)
                2> Six points for a W8TO contact
6) Final Score:                                                      
                A final score of TEN (10) must be submitted to be
                eligible for certificate. Scores must be submitted
                within 120 days to be valid.
7) Certificate:                                                     
                Certificates will be issue to all qualifying amateurs
                who include an SASE ( SAE, 3 IRC's ok for DX.) SWL's
                may receive the certificate on station heard basis.
8) Awards:                                                           
                A mini contest will be in operation during the event 
                period; The highest score from a Columbus amateur.
                will receive a plaque for their effort.
