[comp.unix.msdos] VGA

kemp@convex.com (Phil Kemp) (04/16/91)

I'm using a OPTIMA 1024 VGA card ( TSENG 3000 chipset ) on SCO UNIX
3.2v2 and VPIX 1.2.0n and am experiencing some cursor 'wierdness'.

The cursor constantly 'homes' itself to the bottom left corner of the
screen after each key input. It also changes from a block to an
underscore and back. Has anyone seen this problem and if so did you
fix it? ( and how ).

A related problem seems to be that with certain graphics programs
using standard VGA ( 640x480x16 ), my vga card goes into some
unreadable mode with a mosaic of blocks where there were once colors.
I've tried a couple of different cards of this type with the same
behaviour. The card works flawlessly under dos...

Any help is appreciated.

I have the same problem. Seems to have come with 3.2.2. Did not have the
problem prior to upgrading from 3.2.0. I'm using an HP Vectra RS with
HP VGA card. After VPIX boots the cursor is in the right place at the end
of the line, but with every character typed it returns to the lower left corner.

I am not aware of a fix (not even sure it's a bug.)
