Hi, Could somebody with experience tell me what is the minimum requirement (Hardware requirement) for running Unix/SCO with Open Desktop (X)? Right now I have: 386/387 @25Mhz, 32k cache 4 Megs Memory 120 Megs HD, IDE, 15ms ATI VGA-Wonder, 512K, Bios version: 1.3 Comp. Bios: Pheonix Monitor: NEC 3D (Brand: NEC PowerMate 386/25) With my actual configuration, will it work. I have heard that it requires a minimum of 6 megs mem. and 100 megs HD. Is it true? ************************************************************************* E-Mail: genius@bart.cs.mcgill.ca *************************************************************************

If you are doing much X, you'll probably want to jump up to 8MB RAM when you can afford it, as X is a real memory pig. If your planning on doing any development, you'll definately need more disk, and 12MB of RAM makes life a lot easier. -- ken seefried iii "I'll have what the gentleman ken@dali.cc.gatech.edu on the floor is having..."

ODT only needs 6+mb if you are going to run TCP/IP or NFS, since it increases the size of your kernal dramatically. Otherwise, you can "squeek" by with only 4mb, but 8 is recommended. It's slow, as your disk is taking a real beating (as I recall, theres only about 800K of real memory left). I wouldn't want to run this way, but I have clients who do. 'Course, as far as I'm concerned, 12MB is about right for a complete ODT. -- ken seefried iii "I'll have what the gentleman ken@dali.cc.gatech.edu on the floor is having..."
