The ICOM ht series radios have a characteristic of the transmitter not unkeying exactly when you unkey the PTT switch. This causes a delay before the receiver comes back on. This is a problem when used with repeater telemetry that relays repeater status and such. Question ?? Does anyone know of a remedy to this ICOM characteristic?? I won't call it a problem because it probably doesn't affect everyone. Scott Miles WB6PQM zehntel!zps!digger

My new Yaesu FT-209RH has the same problem after it 'warms up'. More specifically, after being in QSO for several minutes the transmitter tends to want to stay keyed for 0.5 - 1.0 seconds after the PTT switch is released. What is really interesting about it is that it does this only when 'warm', and only after speaking into the microphone (external speaker/mic, too). Just keying and releasing the PTT switch won't make it happen. The demo FT-209RH at the local ham emporium does not have this problem. Anyway, my radio is currently at the Yaesu repair center in California where the problem hopefully will be resolved. As soon as I find out what the problem is, I'll post it to the net. Perhaps the phenomonon in the Icom is similar to the Yaesu's and may have a similar cause. 73's, Jim Gerke, KC5OA Infoswitch Corp. Richardson, TX (214) 644-0570 allegra!convex!infoswx!jim
