I just receive my UNIX system from a very kind person but, it does not come with any manuals. I like to modify the system a bit to my taste. Before doing so I would like to back up my the system. I want to backup both the boot sector (better yet make a boot floppy) and all files on the hard disk if I can. Here is the system: System info: Convergence Technology 6300 (Motorolla) CPU: 68010 Unix V derivative 1985 (Tcix 3.2?) has a 360K floppy has 40meg hard disk (not SCSI inferface) C compiler only accept 8 char long variable name. also, I would like to set up the term variable to let the system drive a Teleray terminal. Currently it is setup for VT-100. Another point is I have a 1200 and 2400 baud modem that I would like to connect to one of the two rs232 ports. I think this is done by changing some lines in one of the files but, I don't know which. The system is a derivative of UNIX V so it should work with all UNIX V commands etc... I am don't know if the backup procedure is the same. The general idea is to be able to restore the system even if the hard disk is accidentally trashed. Thanks for any helps reply to: labb-1ea@web.berkeley.edu and ttam@cory.berkeley.edu in case either site bounces mails.
