Hey out there. I guess I'm not the only one who's noticed that things are a little quiet in this part of the net-world. At first, I too thought it was some sort of distribution failure but since I have seen a few (very few) postings here of late, it must be something else. Has everyone decided to chill out after the flame wars of a week or two ago? Does everyone (but me - how paranoid!) have some knowledge of clandestine monitoring by various government agencies? Has this newsgroup become yesterday's fad and everyone in the know moved on to more exciting and stimulating areas? By the by, I attended a DPMA meeting last week with my boss where an FBI agent was speaking on computer crime and security. For the most part, the food was more interesting than the speech which consisted of slides and a monologue on statistics from a survey done by the Florida Department of Law Enforcement (FDLE) in 1988 and published last year. He did mention the Robert Morris case, but only in passing. ********************************************************************** Larry Seals @ Trailing Edge Software Motto: Solving today's problems with yesterday's technology. At first, I too [...] There were a lot of really cute answers to this, but on a serious note, my understanding is that the net really heats up every September-October, because of the influx of new students starting (returning to) school. ("Hey, lookit this, a new toy! Oooh, ooh, I get to *publish articles*!!") After the novelty wears off (and semester/quarter finals begin showing on the horizon), the net calms down considerably. This is a seasonal phenomenon, and is nothing to worry about. -- asylvain@felix.UUCP (Alvin "the Chipmunk" Sylvain) ========================= Opinions are Mine, Typos belong to /usr/ucb/vi "We're sorry, but the reality you have dialed is no longer in service.
