Now that Lotus has decided not to sell the residential version of MarketPlace, this doesn't matter so much, but it's still interesting. This week's MacWeek contains a review of MarketPlace/Business with the following paragraph: "Even casual browsing in the database turns up typos and obvious mistakes. The Finocchio Club in San Francisco, for instance, is listed as Pinnochios. Most of the figures for the number of employees and annual sales of small businesses must be estimates. Of 69 coin-operated laundries listed for San Francisco, all but one had eight employees and $333,333 in annual sales. One San Francisco Bay area veterinary hospital shown with seven employees actually has nine vets and more than 20 other staff members." This single paragraph contains evidence of three of the major complaints about MarketPlace: factual mistakes, bad estimates, and the ability to look up individual records without too much difficulty. I'm pleased Lotus gave up on the residential version...I wonder who's next. - Walt -- Walter Smith wrs@apple.com, apple!wrs Apple Computer, Inc.
