[comp.org.eff.talk] Atlanta/Georgia Caller*ID Update

peterm@sumax.seattleu.edu (Peter Marshall) (01/30/91)

Comp.dcom.telecom is very definitely biased in this regard, as some have
pointed out before. It is good to see this topic discussed in another
forum like this one, therefore. The moderator's note in question is but
one in a long string of such examples. Although, as Bob Jacobson notes,
telecom does represent a lot of informational power, attempts to addresss
such moderator bias in that forum do not seem much effective.

It is also interesting to note that another form such bias takes on
telecom is the moderator-dictated segregation of "privacy" topics into
the so-called "sister" forum, telecom-priv/telecom privacy digest. Note
that the post and note Bob cites, however, were *not* so segregated.

What to do? Develop this discussion here and reflect it in other forums
and in online pubs. Consider initiating discussion with net admin.
Encourage protest/discussion on telecom and telecom-priv?
