[comp.org.eff.talk] phone numbers

shaula@maestro.mitre.org (Shaula Doyle) (02/13/91)

I'd be interested in hearing from anyone who has set up community
recycling programs as to how difficult it was, were they able to get
coporate sponsorship, and any advice they might have. My only
contribution to this newsgroup so far follows:

Steel Can Recycling Institute - 1-800-876-7274
National Polystyrene Recycling Company 1-800-242-7434
or write:	Recycling, 1025 Connecticut Ave, Suite 508
		Washington, DC 20036

Environmental Defense Fund
1616 P Street
Washington, DC 20036

The SCRI was able to give me the address of a center near me that
recycles steel cans. I got their number from Pepsi. The NPRC had
a full page ad in the Washington Post recently. I wrote to them, and
have not yet recieved a reply.

My big problem lately has been phone books, being that the population
where I live is probably around 1.2 million, I know else in the county
to recycle phone books. I plan to call them and ask where they're
taking them, and hopefully next distribution we can work out more
drop-off points and take a larger volume. But that's been my pet
project.

thanks-shaula
