gnu@hoptoad.uucp (John Gilmore) (04/01/91)
I recently created the newsgroup alt.privacy. It seems to be going well.
If it isn't on your site, wait a few days and see if it shows up, or ask
your sysadmin.
But there seems to be a tendency for people to cross-post between
alt.privacy and comp.org.eff.talk. This might be useful for a few
days, but it would be better to simply inform comp.org.eff.talk readers
that alt.privacy exists and that they can read about privacy there.
Then post all the privacy-related messages in alt.privacy, without
cross-posting them to anywhere else.
That will leave comp.org.eff.talk readers who don't care about privacy,
but do care about other "electronic frontier" issues, a lower volume to
deal with. Readers who *do* care about privacy can read both groups,
of course.
Thanks...
