Assembly Bill 314 (AB 314, Moore), will be heard in the California
Assembly's Committee on Utilities and Commerce on MONDAY, MAY 6th,
at 1:30 PM in the State Capitol.

AB 314, introduced by Committee Chairwoman Gwen Moore (D-L.A.),
would require that all residential telephone customers receiving
Caller ID service be offered per-line blocking, free of charge.

AB 314 also deals with automatic number identification (ANI) service
used with "800" and "900" telephone services. It would require
customers to be notified that use of the "800" or "900" number may
cause their telephone numbers to be revealed.

This bill faces heavy opposition from the telephone and telemarketing
industries. If you would like to testify on this legislation, please
contact Randy Chinn, consultant to Assemblywoman Moore, at 916-445-4246
voice, or 916-324-6862 fax.
