Ten years ago, practically all the people using a university's computers were trusted computer experts of one kind or another, and if they broke security, it was because they wanted more direct ways of doing their legitimate work. Today, many universities are opening up computers to _any_student_, and rightly so. But it means that the risk of destructive activity is much greater.
