(If manual intervention will be possible to prevent this from getting sent out the ARPA gateway, please do so. If you are reading this on ARPA or MILNET, please forgive the duplication.) The new BRL-based gateway for net.ham-radio to Info-Hams is working; I'm not sure of the reverse feed. The following is an item I posted on the ARPA side a few days ago, before the gateway was up and running (as far as I was aware), but failed to post on the USENET side at that time. Sorry about that. Hi! Just got back from a trip and being sick, and find lots of interest in the Uniden, according to my mailbox... Here's another place that is at least advertising the CR-2021's in their catalog. You'll have to call to see if they really have any in stock, though. Scanner World, USA 10 New Scotland Ave Albany, NY 12208 (518) 436-9606 Price is $94.99, plus $4.00 shipping, total $98.99. By the way, ask for their catalog if you call, even if they are out of the radio. They have more info on the Uniden in their catalog than any other ads I've seen, including Uniden's own flyer. Someone asked about the IF bandwidth specs, and this lists them: Wide = +-3 kHz at 6 db, +-6 kHz at 50 db; Narrow = +-2.5 kHz at 6 db, +-5 kHz at 50 db. (Don't sound so good in print, do they? Nonetheless, the narrow position cleans up the interference fairly well, such as on the BBC on 6175, which has WRNO on 6185 and Radio Nederland on 6165 on either side.) Their catalog has a lot of scanner specs in it, so it's a handy reference when comparison shopping. Good luck! Will ARPA/MILNET: wmartin@almsa-1.ARPA USENET: seismo!brl-bmd!wmartin
