I am hoping someone may be able to answer the 2 questions I have regarding file formats of the GIF and the GL. What makes the GL what it is? Most GL files I have see utilize something like grasprt.exe to view them (on the PC anyway) and these have some type of animation in them. The GIF format is simply a scanned or digitized/captured image and that is usually viewed by one of the many gifviewers. My question is whether anyone knows if there is source code, C library routines (commercial or PD), docs, or books regarding how one could write a program to read them in and display them. As I said I know there are viewers in existence and I have used them. I want to incorporate these images into games and other programs and I am hoping someone could suggeste where to research on learning the methods used to store and retrieve these image formats. All help would be greatly appreciated and any e-mail response I get I will post in a complete summary. I thank you for your help. -Robert H.
