Today, January 19, 1991, we entered Beta test fase on our TeleFinder project. We expect to have a 1.0 release ready in a few weeks. Our system allows TeleFinder Host systems to participate in FidoNet. Our system consists of two parts: an application that takes TeleFinder threads and puts new messages in the TabbyNet file with outgoing messages. The second part consists of an application that looks at the TabbyNet file with incoming messages and converts them into TeleFinder threads. With this system, you can participate in all Fido messages exchanging. EchoMail messages can be read as a normal thread, messages posted to a thread are sent to FidoNet. NetMail is posted to your user's mailbox, and NetMail can be sent by your users to other people participating in the FidoNet all around the world . There are a few limits to this configuration. First, TeleFinder must be able to launch, at a predefined time, the TabbyNet application. At the moment, this is possible with QuicKeys 2.0. The author of TeleFinder is working on a version of the Host application that does this without QuicKeys. Second, a TeleFinder system will currently not allow other FidoNet systems to connect 24 hrs a day. It will allow FidoNet connections only when TabbyNet is running, during so-called National Mail Hour. This is due to the fact that TeleFinder does not recognise fido-net style connections (yet). TFImport and TFExport are shareware. The package can be ordered by sending $25 to either of these addresses: John W. Sinteur Strawinskypad 82 2324 DB Leiden The Netherlands Bas A. Schulte Zwaanshals 252a 3036 KZ Rotterdam The Netherlands. The release version will be made available for download from several systems. The names, locations, phone numbers, etc. of those systems will be made available on the release date. One of those systems will very likely be the TeleFinder system of Rusty Tucker.
